In the tides of life, in actions storm
Up and down I weave,
To and fro weave free;
Birth and the grave,
An infinite sea,
A varied weaving,
A radiant living,
Thus at Time’s humming loom it’s my hand that prepares
The robe ever living the Deity wears.
“Spirit of the Earth to Faust”
At Camphill Kimberton we care for the earth and for people. We strive toward each person developing to the best of their ability, which for each of us in an individual journey. The unique, beautiful pieces of work in our craft store are an amazing by-product of the development of each person. Because we care for the earth we also work with repurposing worn items of natural fiber material.
Good work is being done well. And objects made with good will and attention enriches the lives of their recipients. So the practice of quality craft work enhances the environment of well-being in the village for the users as well as the artisans. In addition, when we sell our crafts to the public we not only support ourselves, we extend that interconnection to our customers. We share the relationship that a well-crafted product creates between its maker and its user. We remind others of what we have learned: that products made by hand with good intention enrich the quality of all our lives.
Our craft workshops are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 2:30 to 5 p.m. We welcome visitors and volunteers.
