Herb Garden

Our herb garden is located in the center of the village. We grow herbs for tea, cooking, medicine, and for the biodynamic preparations used in all of the agricultural workshops. We distribute dry herbs to the houses in the village and sell tea blends at our craft shop, farmers’ markets, and Kimberton Whole Foods stores.

We strive to grow herbs of the highest quality to consume within the village as well as sell locally. Local tea blends are not commonly available, but we think that if produce should be local, so should tea and culinary herbs. Not only do we grow common herbs like mint and basil, we grow things like anise hyssop, a native plant, which has an exquisite flavor as well as medicinal properties. Many of the herbs we grow attract beneficial insects like bees, butterflies, spiders, and preying mantises. Frogs, turtles, and harmless garter snakes also make their home in our herb garden. We recognize that we are a part of the larger ecosystem around us so we do not use any chemical fertilizers or pesticides which contaminate the environment.
