At Kimberton Hills, community members live together as expanded families in houses throughout the village, fostering relationships based on respect and mutual support.
A distinctive feature of Camphill life is that dedicated resident volunteers live and work together with adults with special needs. They support home life, direct the village’s administration and provide guidance in the various workplaces.
The village is home to people of all ages: children of resident volunteers, young people who come to volunteer for a year or more, single adults and families who establish homes, and elders who remain active. Everyone engages in the village cultural life, and works on the land or with applied arts.
Village life has its own unhurried, regular rhythm. Weekdays are structured by the morning and afternoon work sessions and three family-style meals shared in each house. Weekends have their own pace, including outings and trips, Saturday Bible evenings, Sunday services, folk dances, concerts or other special gatherings.
While all share active social idealism and an intention to be in this community, abilities and capacities vary. Each person adds to the richness of interdependent living.

Accent on Wellness
In Kimberton Hills, a variety of therapies and special activities are available to enhance personal health and well being for people with disabilities. In addition to the walk-in hours of our village nurse and the help of our medical advisor, art, music, massage, eurythmy, therapeutic baths, and counseling can enhance physical and emotional health. Referrals can also be made to specialized therapists and healthcare providers outside the village.

Vocations, Not Just Work
Kimberton Hills has evolved as a community with a variety of opportunities to develop new talents and pursue a vocation. Work on the dairy, in the craft workshops, gardens, bakery, cafe or in homemaking, helps individuals develop a variety of skills and provides purpose and an experience of accomplishment. Each person knows that he or she contributes to the well-being of the entire village in a significant way. Kimberton Hills provides work opportunities to help adults with special needs to contribute to the village.
Work is a challenging and rewarding part of the day, as each person participates in activities suited to his or her interests and capabilities.

Social & Cultural Life
Village members enjoy an abundance of cultural opportunities that encourage the discovery and development of each person’s talents, capabilities and interests. A diverse program of concerts, lectures, dramatic events, art exhibits, folk dances and festivals enrich life and provide occasions for interaction with the local community and beyond. Residents also enjoy weekly trips to our local YMCA and enthusiastically join in Special Olympics events, where they meet old and new friends.

Care & Stewardship of the Environment
Kimberton Hills has a long-standing tradition and commitment to caring for and nurturing the land through biodynamic farming and observing sound ecological practices in our homes and workplaces. We are incorporating innovative ecological design principles into our new building and landscaping projects.
