Wildflower Composers

An exciting residency of a new kind, during which four composers will hear their in-progress works performed by the Arcana New Music Ensemble, first in a workshop setting and then, after further work and study with composition instructors, in public performance in Rose Hall.

The Arcana New Music Ensemble is a group of Philadelphia-based musicians dedicated to presenting interesting, beautiful, and unconventional music in interesting, beautiful, and unconventional places.

Wildflower Composers was formed in 2018 by composer-cellist Erin Busch, bringing together young, gender-marginalized composers for composition mentorship, coursework, and community-building. Regarding the new name, Wildflower Composers, Busch comments: “Wildflowers are not constrained by specifics. They are a mix of colors, of sizes, of scents. They can (and do) grow anywhere, without restraint.”
