Grigory Smirnov is a composer and pianist, familiar to audiences at Camphill Village Kimberton Hills from his frequent appearances with the Eurythmy Spring Valley Ensemble. Originally from Siberia, Russia. Grigory Smirnov received his master’s degree at The Juilliard School in New York and has been living and working in the United States ever since. His music has been performed worldwide in major venues, such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Tanglewood Festival, the Moscow Philharmonic Hall, and the Goetheanum. His CD album Dowson Songs * Chaconne, released by Naxos Records, featuring the song cycle “Dowson Songs” commissioned by The ASCAP Foundation and performed by tenor Martin Bakari, was named a “Critic’s Choice” by Opera News magazine.
For his first solo piano concert at Camphill Village Kimberton Hills, Grigory Smirnov has selected a varied group of his compositions written over a period of 27 years, and concluding with his very recent Preludes.
