African jazz comes to CVKH
The Chamber Music Residency program at Camphill Village Kimberton Hills (CVKH) was created to introduce young musicians to the values of community and service, while also providing an immersive chamber music experience. Organized by cellist Robert Martin, retired founder-director of the Bard College Conservatory of Music and current Director of Development at CVKH, the Chamber Music Residency has hosted over a dozen concerts in the past three years.
On June 28th, 2026, the program reached beyond the chamber music threshold and hosted renown saxophonist Nasir Dickerson and his African Jazz Ensemble. Dickerson, who has performed with a long list of amazing artists — including Lauryn Hill, Daniel Caeser, Busta Rhymes, Wyclef Jean, YG Marley, Zion Marley, The Legendary Roots Crew, Questlove, and many others — brought his group to CVKH to play under the brand-new pavilion, our first Chamber Music Residency concert held in the structure.
The African Jazz Ensemble featured Dickerson (Sax, Kora, Ewi, African Flute, and Balaphone), Jeanette Berry (Vocals), Aaron Goode (Trombone), Ray Bernard (Bass), Hassan Sabree (Drums), Jeremy Boyd (Percussion), and CVKH long-term resident Dylan Babitch on piano.
